PRESSURE COOKER: The Actors’ Warehouse presents its newest production, “Mud,” which was written by iconoclastic playwright Maria Irene Fornes, who was a leading figure in the off-off-Broadway theatrical movement of the ’60s, and centers on a hardworking woman in poverty living with a cantankerous man who falls ill. The play shows people on both sides of the social services system and delves into a world where those who try to make life better for others are overwhelmed by human frailty as they contend with power and questions concerning people's’ capacity for change and how their past defines them. The story centers on a social worker whose latest case about baby Luna Gale becomes a battleground filled with hidden motives, buried secrets and moral quandaries.
